Well I talked about P2P file sharing in my previous post and finally with an example torrent. BitTorrent is a P2P file sharing protocol which is used to send and receive large amount of data from one computer to another computer. This is the most commonly used protocol for very large file transmission. Surprisingly torrent traffic occupies 40% of entire global internet traffic on www. In torrent there is an initial seed, which is the first person who shares his file, so when he shares his file it is downloaded by many clients who is connected to him. Once the new client completed it downloading, then seed become 2 so the number of availability becomes 2. Now the new client starts to upload the same file to other clients. The same process will continue and the possibility of availability of files become rapidly increase.
This protocol was designed by Bram Cohen in the year 2001. This protocol is still maintained by his company. According to new report from IsoHunt, This is one of the largest torrent search engine. There are more than 1.1 petabytes of data are currently available on torrent file sharing.
