Industry Minister Miguel Sebastian, again noted that the establishment of a fee for the search engines is a viable proposition. The official emphasized that it is “an open option to be studied,” adding that the Spanish presidency will try to introduce the subject in the agenda of the EU.
Sebastian noted that the issue should not be considered “from the viewpoint of one country, but from the European point of view and even from the global viewpoint. The minister clarified that, if implemented the fee revenue should be used to provide enhancements to Internet users.
“If operators receive some compensation, such additional income should be useful and beneficial for users”, he collects as Europe Press. Sebastian explained that if the toll enables consumers to have “higher quality Internet and cheaper”, it is “a good choice to study.”
The minister had said in recent days that the charge “absolutely” would be paid by users and are encouraged to anticipate that this does not happen “never.”
